I decided I wanted to share a favourite outfit each week. Something I have worn that I really liked. For no other reason really, other than I love clothes and what they represent. I really believe in clothes being an expression of ones self, even if they don’t intend them to.
Additionally I am wanting to do this feature to show that; regardless of age, shape, weight or…well ANYTHING, you can wear what you bloody want.
Now that I am closer to my ‘40’ milestone than my ‘30’ one, I realise more than ever how there is still quite a stigma about fashion, hair cuts and styles over a certain age. Mainly for women.
I follow SO many body positive and age positive accounts on Instagram that prove you really do NOT have to be 20 years old or a size 6 to pull off certain styles.
Anywhooo, my first outfit! This dress is one I wore for work this week. I can wear what I want to work, which I both love and hate. I love because I can wear what I want, but also hate because if I wear something to work then I don’t feel I can wear it out of work. If that makes sense?!
Even so, I am moving past that thinking, starting with this dress; it is from Topshop at ASOS and I am pretty sure it was on sale too.
Anyone who knows me knows I love animal print and I love the bright, almost neon, colours of this dress. I also love the collar and cuff detail. I am equally pleased that the bust doesn’t gape which is usually an issue for me.
It is babydoll style, which I felt would probably not suit my more curvy figure however, I am actually really happy with how it looks. It is comfy and, while yeah, it may not be super flattering, I think it looks cool!
What do you think?
p.s. I teamed it with my Molly DM’s which took FOREVER to break in but are sssoooo worth it!
